Super thrilled to have won a Fearless Award in the latest Fearless Photographers collection! Fearless is a group of the most creative and very best wedding photographers in the world, that redefine the boundaries of wedding photography. To have my work included is an absolute honour! There were over 16,000 entrants in this collection, and only 1% were awarded – an incredibly tough worldwide competition! I’m so truly humbled and happy to be one of the very few wedding photographers in the UK and Cornwall to have won this award!
In their own words: “Fearless Awards are stunning wedding photos that excel in redefining wedding photography or are just too amazing!”
The image below that won, was taken during bridal preparation at Polpier House in Mevagissey, Cornwall, about twenty minutes before the ceremony. It was taken completely naturally, and unstaged. There was a lot of excitement and anticipation in the air. Lisa and her bridesmaids were running about thirty minutes late. Lisa was having her hair done, and I saw the light beautifully illuminating her ring and lips, so using my 85mm lens I took a few variations of this scene, whilst patiently waiting for the perfect moment. I loved this one the most – I was really drawn to the ever so slight tension of anticipation in Lisa’s hand, which would have been lost had I interfered, rather than observed.
This what the Editors of Fearless Photographers had to say about this image: “Bridal imagery tends to be light and airy, so it’s refreshing to see a portrait that explores the same grace and delicate details in a low-key style. The light perfectly accents the bride’s sharply focused hands and lips, while the rest of the scene falls off into a soft, romantic blur. Beautifully artistic.”
